Extended Power Uprate – Life Cycle Management Project Review

We assisted the client with a review of the project management processes used to manage an extended power uprate-life cycle management project at the client’s nuclear generating facilities.  This work included reviewing the extended power uprate (“EPU”)/life cycle management (“LCM”) project and the prudence of management’s decisions and actions over the course of the EPU/LCM project, including the decisions to enter into major vendor agreements and to proceed with the EPU/LCM project at certain critical junctures and the project controls used to manage the project on a day-to-day basis.

As part of our project management assessment, we identified project management process improvements and organizational changes which will strengthen the client’s control of the project and improve information distribution.  These findings were shared with the client, who is considering how to best implement these findings for the remainder of the project and for future projects.
