We participated in a workshop session to identify and discuss the client’s key objectives for a major capital replacement program and ongoing operations of a nuclear generation facility. We shared lessons learned and operational experience from other mega projects with a focus on nuclear uprate, refurbishment, life cycle extension, and major component replacement projects. Our team reviewed and assessed alternative contracting approaches and pricing structures the client should consider as it continues to develop a strategic approach to its program.
In a later phase of this assignment, we reviewed the project management and commercial strategy development processes being applied by our client. Our advisory support resulted in several important and material changes in the way the project approached the market for major nuclear services. Our analysis included an assessment of risk sharing, risk mitigation practices, and commercial approaches that would most benefit our client based on its internal capabilities and appetite for regulatory and project-related risk.
