The presence of energy storage—dominated by lithium-ion battery technology—is surging across the U.S. electricity grid, particularly in the West, driven by new rules at the federal level and the need to balance renewable generation.

A wave of solar and wind energy coming onto the grid, plus escalating decarbonization efforts in the sector, are bolstering new installations of storage, which helps balance the grid by storing energy in the early afternoon for use in the evening. One of the hottest markets for energy storage is California, where a preponderance of renewables has led grid operators and state lawmakers to push storage as a solution.

Concentric is honored to once again be the presenting sponsor of the 2021 Abby’s House 5k Run/Walk. Abby’s House is a local nonprofit organization in Worcester, Massachusetts, whose mission is to provide shelter and affordable housing, as well as advocacy and support services, to homeless, battered, and low income women, with or without children, who are facing homelessness, escaping from abuse, or having a difficult time finding safe and affordable housing. Each year, dozens of women with and without children pass through the doors of Abby’s House seeking shelter, advocacy, and assistance as they escape domestic violence, homelessness, or housing insecurity.

Abby’s House would not be able to do the critical work they do without their annual fundraising initiatives, and we are proud to be able to contribute to these efforts. The generosity and dedication of the participants of the 2020 Abby’s House 5k helped raise over $48,000 for Abby’s House, and we are hopeful that together we can exceed that total in 2021.
