Electric and Gas Utility Prudence Review

Concentric was retained by a U.S. electric and natural gas utility to conduct a full prudence review of more than $400 million in extraordinary gas purchases arising from a major winter and ice storm. Concentric prepared a detailed chronological analysis of the company’s gas purchasing and gas operations decisions during this event and sponsored direct and rebuttal testimony as to why Concentric concluded that the company’s gas costs were prudently incurred. Concentric provided an expert witness that appeared in this hearing and supported proposed reforms for risk management, storage, end-user curtailment, and LNG utilization in the utility’s upper-Midwestern service area.
